We hold our annual charity fashion show that aims to raise funds for our local children’s charity. Our models are all volunteers and local designers and fashion stores as well as larger UK chain stores. Here are all our highlights from the night including how we planned the night and designed the runway with lights and scissor lift platforms for a really memorable and spectacular show.

Scissor Lift Platforms

Location

As this was a charity show we needed to keep costs low. Luckily we have a long standing, great relationship with a hotel in the area. They host weddings and events however allow us to use their stylish space once a year at a hugely reduced rate.

The room we are allowed to use is stylish and glamorous with mauve coloured walls and sparkling chandeliers – perfect for a fashion show! After the long runway we can fit around 200 people in the room – filling it every single year with friends, family, representatives and supporters of the charity and fashion lovers.

Clothing

We have been running this fashion show for 5 years now – every year being a huge success. With this great reputation we always manage to nail the clothing. We split the show into 2 sections – one for local designers & student designers and another for local established fashion brands and UK wide fashion brands. This year Topshop, River Island Next and Debenhams have agreed to showcase 5 outfits each at the show – more than ever before!!

Models

This process is a mixture of us approaching local Instagram stars, charity workers, nurses, students – anyone who we think would be amazing and confident on the runway. We also hold auditions – which amazes us as the turnout is great every year!

Stage Production

We worked with professionals for this. We hired a team to fit lights and a scissor lift platform to elevate models for the crowd of 200 to see. We also hired a local DJ who provided us with electronic tunes for the evening.

Social Media Marketing

Thankfully social media is a free and therefore we did all our marketing on that – including filming an Instagram Live video for those who couldn’t make it watch – where we got an extra 88 people tuning in.

Fundraising

On the night we raised £5,000 with ticket sales and donations – well done team! x
